The One Location Strategy Every Entrepreneur Must Master to Win (Monday, May 19, 2025)

This Week’s Tip
Picking the right location for your business is crucial. It can and should be about leverage, alignment, and clarity on what moves the needle in your specific niche. Location isn’t just a place on a map; it’s a strategic asset that can make or break your business.
Here’s the deal: Location drives customer access, cost efficiency, and brand perception — but how much weight you put on each depends on your business model. If you’re retail or restaurant, foot traffic and visibility are king. If you’re B2B or online-heavy, proximity to talent or infrastructure might matter more. That means you gotta know your core business drivers — what actually moves your revenue needle.
Start by identifying your ideal customer. Where do they live? Work? Hang out? Don’t guess — get data. Drive time, competitor density, and local demographics aren’t trivia; they’re your business compass. If your customers can’t easily get to you or you’re buried in a sea of competitors with no differentiation, good luck.
Second, costs — rent, taxes, regulations. Sometimes cheaper locations kill your brand or kill customer flow. Sometimes spending a bit more on rent is a profit multiplier because the location works for you. If your location adds friction, it’s a drag on growth.
Third, consider your team and talent. If you’re a service business, having the right people nearby or easy commute can be the difference between a revolving door and a thriving culture.
Here’s the kicker: Don’t get distracted chasing the “perfect” location. That’s a myth. The best move is to pick a location that aligns with your biggest leverage points and double down there. Ordinary businesses done for extraordinary time create extraordinary results. You don’t need perfect — you need right enough to start, then refine.
So, pick your spot with intention. Focus on what truly matters for your business model and customer. Then own it, optimize it, dominate it.
